Blue Jackets Assign Forward James Malatesta to Monsters
CLEVELAND - The AHL's Cleveland Monsters, top affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Monday that the Blue Jackets assigned forward James Malatesta to the Monsters. In 11 appearances for Columbus last season, the first NHL action of his career, Malatesta tallied 2-2-4 with five penalty minutes and added 12-10-22 with 79 penalty minutes in 56 appearances for the Monsters. In 2024, Malatesta capped his rookie pro campaign with nine Calder Cup Playoff appearances for Cleveland, registering 1-1-2 with two penalty minutes and a +1 rating. Thunder Announces Training Camp Roster; Stinil Signed to SPC
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today the training camp roster. Additionally, forward Michal Stinil has been signed to a standard player contract and added to the training camp roster. Stinil, 25, enters his fourth season with the Thunder. A native of Decin, Czechia, the 5-foot-11, 194-pound forward led the team with 32 goals and second on the team in scoring with 67 points. Stinil has recorded 30 goals in back-to-back seasons. Carolina League: Fans of the Low-A Carolina League's Myrtle Beach (SC) Pelicans are asking the city council to update the local ballpark and renew the lease to prevent the city from losing the affiliated team. Major League Baseball, which now controls Minor League Baseball, has required mandatory upgrades to the Pelicans' ballpark that is co-owned by the city and Horry County.
